Adriel & Alura’s Buck Moon Activity and Giveaway #1

As the Buck Moon rises this July, its energy feels especially alive and meaningful. The term “buck” refers to the adult male of several animal species, each one carrying its own beautiful layer of masculine energy and spiritual symbolism. Whether it is the graceful deer buck with his growing antlers, the quick and fertile rabbit buck, the agile and alert antelope buck, or the powerful and protective kangaroo buck, these animals all embody qualities of strength, vitality, guardianship, and forward movement. They bring a wonderful masculine presence that beautifully balances the flowing, nurturing goddess energies of summer, creating the sacred duality we so often explore in my blogs, courses, and teachings.
The deer buck teaches us about moving through life with gentle strength and deep intuition. His antlers, covered in soft velvet as they grow, are a living symbol of renewal and the ability to regenerate after challenges or losses. He reminds us that true power can be both protective and kind.
The rabbit buck carries messages of abundant creativity, quick thinking, and the courage to leap into new beginnings. He is sensitive and alert, yet fiercely devoted to protecting his home and family, showing us that masculine energy can be both swift and deeply caring.
The antelope buck embodies grace under pressure, sharp awareness, and the freedom to move across life’s landscapes with speed and elegance when the moment calls for it. He teaches us to stay alert to opportunities and to trust our instincts as we navigate change.
The kangaroo buck stands for powerful yet grounded strength, the ability to make great leaps forward while staying connected to the earth. He is a protector of his young and his community, reminding us that real masculine energy holds both fierce power and tender responsibility.
Together, these buck animals offer us a rich tapestry of masculine symbolism that harmonizes perfectly with the goddess energy of the season. This balance of strength and softness, action and flow, protection and nurturing is exactly what helps us grow into more whole and empowered versions of ourselves.
The Raffle’s Inspiration
This theme came to me in such a natural way. Over the years I have been slowly building a small wine collection. I do not drink heavily, but I truly enjoy the occasional wine tasting, as many of you know. Some time ago I even grew my own grapevine and made wine from the grapes myself. The first batch did not turn out quite as I hoped because I needed more of the right tools for fermentation back then (honestly it tasted icky🤦🏼♀️), but the experience of working with the vines and creating something from the earth felt deeply magical and taught me so much about patience and nature’s cycles. With Archangel Ariel’s help, I've mastered the skill now.
Speaking of growth and creation, it brought the spirit of the buck right into my heart. Over the years, I've spoken about my love of the artistry of wine making and tasting that so many of you began sending the most thoughtful gifts, including wine, along with cards and letters from friends. I really do prefer the word friends over fans, because that is how you feel to me, like a true soul family. Your generosity, whether through donations that help keep my family going, through the services you purchase that allow me to pay the bills and continue supporting charities, or through these personal surprises in the mail, has touched me so deeply. It made me want to give something special back in the same spirit of love and blessing.
That is why I am so happy to announce our first Buck Moon giveaway. I will be offering a bottle of my own homemade wine from my reserve, paired with a complementary themed bottle that fits the spirit of this month. If your name is drawn and you would rather not receive the wine for any reason, just let me know with love and we can redraw. I will be announcing the winners in the middle of July, and there will be several other giveaways as well to celebrate this powerful moon together.
One of the bottles that helped inspire this whole idea arrived recently as a gift. A very thoughtful person who must have already known I was going to do the buck moon, following along with the moon activities, sent me a lovely bottle of Stag’s Leap Artemis wine from 2020 for this month. Thank you btw!
It has already aged for six years, and I have always wondered what a more mature wine would taste like after all that time. The “stag” connection feels so perfect with our Buck Moon theme, since a stag is the mature form of the buck energy we are honoring. I will be opening this bottle for a moon salute on the night of the full Buck Moon, to honor the energy, give thanks from my whole heart, and send blessings out to all of you. It was such a generous and unexpected surprise, arriving with cards and letters, and I am deeply grateful to the person who sent it.
The Activity
For our Buck Moon activity this month, my beautiful daughter Adriel came up with a wonderful idea, and I added just a little touch to it. She suggested we all go out and look for a sighting of any buck animal this month, whether a male deer, a rabbit, an antelope if your area allows, or even hold the powerful energy of the kangaroo in your heart and meditations. If you see one, take a picture if you can, and try to get as close as feels right by settling into a place of inner peace and approaching slowly and gently where it is safe and respectful. It is such a beautiful practice of presence and connection with these graceful, strong creatures.
After your sighting or while holding the energy, create your own little altar piece of one of these masculine animal totems. You can carve it from wood if that calls to you, draw or sketch it in any style you like, realistic or abstract, or model one with clay. Pour your very best into it and make something special you can keep on your altar for next year’s Buck Moon or whenever spirit moves you. To make it even more fun, I will be including a young buck figurine in one of the giveaway packages so someone receives a ready piece for their altar, but I encourage everyone to try creating their own first and see what magic comes through your hands.
If you are blessed with a sighting of any of these buck animals this month, it can be a gentle sign that messages of strength, protection, creativity, and forward movement are already on their way to you, along with many beautiful blessings. These animal totems often carry exactly the masculine support and encouragement our souls need. Yet if you do not see one, please do not feel discouraged. These animals appear more often in some places than others, and their absence does not mean you are without guidance or luck. It may simply mean your special message is arriving in a different form, perhaps even sooner than you expect. Stay open, stay peaceful inside, and trust that spirit always knows the perfect timing for you. I love that. This includes so many different animals especially summer ones! It really honors the summer months and the goddess, and gives people all over a chance to participate. I do have quite a few supporters in Australia!
I hope you feel the magic of this Buck Moon and enjoy taking part in the activities and giveaways with an open heart. There is so much more coming, and I am grateful every single day for this community that keeps the light shining so brightly for all of us.
Thank you for the love you pour in, for supporting one another, and for letting me share this journey with you. May the energy of the buck animals bring you steady strength wrapped in gentleness, and may the goddess of summer hold you in abundance, peace, and deep love.
With all my heart,
Alura
